New release! Research Handbook on Organizational Control
I am very pleased to announce the publication of our Research Handbook on Organizational Control in Edward Elgar Publishing, co-edited with Laura B. Cardinal and C. Chet Miller.
In this volume we bring together leading scholars to take stock of organizational control research and to develop new perspectives on how control systems, processes, and practices are changing in contemporary organizations. As organizations face rapid technological, institutional, and societal change, established assumptions about hierarchical and formal control increasingly need to be reconsidered. The handbook addresses these developments by integrating micro and macro perspectives and by exploring emerging issues such as digitalization, algorithms, platforms, sustainability, trust, and interorganizational forms of control.
I am grateful to Laura B. Cardinal, who led the editorial team, to C. Chet Miller for the excellent collaboration, and to all contributing authors for their outstanding chapters and insights.

We discuss value creation through modularity and complementarity, platforms vs. business ecosystems, what makes effective ecosystem orchestration, how to embed ecosystem logic across functions, and how to measure success with the EPIC framework while identifying emerging opportunities (e.g., AI, circular economy, community-based ecosystems).

German Version of our Business Ecosystem Book
Our book, Business Ecosystems, is now available in German from Springer Gabler. It explains how value creating is increasingly happening through networks of partners, customers, and complementors, and how firms can strategically design, build, and participate in ecosystems. This book is the result of close collaboration with my co-authors, Dr. Erwin Hettich and Dr. Pia Kerstin Neudert.
